Join or Renew SSWCA

Thank you for your interest in joining SSWCA! When a school becomes a member of SSWCA, all affiliated center tutors, director(s), and administrator(s) at the school will have access to:

  • The option to receive a discounted copy of our toolkit, The Toolkit: Writing Center Resources for Middle and High Schools (list price: $38.00)
  • The opportunity to apply for grants for SSWCA’s 2024 conference in Boston, MA (and online) as well as other grants and scholarships
  • Discounted registration for SSWCA’s 2024 conference
  • The opportunity to contribute to a community that advocates for sustaining and building the legitimacy of peer tutoring centers through several platforms
  • The opportunity to participate, at no additional charge, in our digital roundtable discussions. (Non-members pay a small fee to attend each roundtable).
  • The opportunity to run for a position on the SSWCA Board.
  • Resources and help with submitting to SSWCA’s journal: The Journal of Peer Tutoring in Secondary Schools, including the option to add on a The Journal of Peer Tutoring in Secondary Schools print copy subscription.

We are pleased to offer a tiered membership option for 2023-2024:

  • Full center membership for writing and peer tutoring centers with director(s) and tutors. All those associated with that one building’s center are full members with this purchase. Full center memberships are for individual buildings and not district-wide: $65
  • Individual professional membership for an educator wishing to start a center or who does not yet have tutors: $45
  • Individual student membership for any middle school, high school, or undergraduate student who is interested in secondary centers but is not yet attached to a SSWCA Full Center member school: $30

SSWCA memberships expire at the end of June for each school year.

Our toolkit can be purchased at the member rate by clicking on “Purchase a Membership” below. You must purchase a 2023-24 membership in order to receive The Toolkit at the reduced rate, and each membership allows for ONE toolkit purchase at the reduced rate. If your school or district is interested in bulk orders, discounts are available. Contact admin@sswca.org for more information.

At this time we cannot accept purchase orders; you can pay with PayPal, by card, or by check.

  • If you wish to pay by check, please complete the registration process below and select the “pay by check” option at the very bottom. We will then email you an invoice, so you can pay with a check.

Your membership fees cover: accounting assistance; fees required by the state or Federal government; website, newsletter, and mailing costs; operational fees; promotional materials; general materials and supplies; and possible grants for new or underfunded schools and/or tutors to attend SSWCA events.
