SSWC Toolkit

We are thrilled to announce the publication of The Toolkit: Writing Center Resources for Middle and High Schools.

With six new chapters, over 168 different types of resources, and 300+ examples, this updated 500+ page edition of SSWCA’s resource toolkit is the hands-on resource educators need to establish and sustain a writing or learning center, especially at the secondary level. The Toolkit draws from the wisdom and experience of dozens of writing and learning center directors to frame ways of thinking about the many responsibilities and opportunities of directing a center while offering immediately reproducible forms, worksheets, ideas, and plans to use at any stage of center development.

This publication includes revised discussions about and resources for topics including the labor of a center director, the process of proposing a center, the logistical considerations, and the recruitment and training process, to name a few. The Toolkit also adds new chapters about online tutoring, learning centers, working with specific populations of students, partnerships, and ideas for publication and networking, among others.
