This year, SSWCA will hold elections for three open positions on the Executive Board, which meets monthly via Skype to discuss and plan events to support the organization’s mission. Members of the Executive Board must be current SSWCA members; they may be directors, administrators, or staff members of secondary school writing centers, or be otherwise involved with supporting secondary school writing centers.
We are especially interested in including leaders outside of the Capital Area region to help support online and digital collaboration projects we hope to expand to a national population. We invite new perspectives and input from directors of high schools, middle schools, independent schools, etc. Please consider running for a position. Serving on the board is a great way to promote the work of writing centers, meet writing center colleagues throughout the region, and gain professional development. Open positions are listed on the next page.
HOW DO I APPLY?
If you are interested in being considered for one (or more) of these positions, please send an email to sswca.board@gmail.com no later than November 20, 2018 with the following information:
– Your name, school, and preferred email address – The position(s) you are running for – A 100 word bio to be included with the voting ballot. In no more than 100 words, write about your background and experience with writing centers in the third person. You should write about why you would like to hold the position you are running for and discuss what you hope to contribute to the organization. *In order to run for a position on the Board, your school must have a current (2018-2019) SSWCA membership; if you are interested in running but have not yet joined SSWCA, you may still do so.
