The Journal of Peer Tutoring in Secondary Schools is an open-source, peer-reviewed journal that publishes scholarly, practitioner, and reflective articles exploring topics related to secondary school peer tutoring. Our mission includes celebrating student and professional voices, mentoring first-time authors, and contributing to the field of writing center theory and practice through scholarly discourse.
JPTSS was founded in 2020 and is sponsored by The Secondary School Writing Centers Association. Check out our open-source digitally published issues by clicking on the images below.
Call for Submissions
The JPTSS Editorial Board is currently seeking manuscripts from secondary and postsecondary tutors, directors, administrators, graduate students, and researchers. More details on submission criteria and deadlines are available here.

Support for Writers
We want to make publishing in our journal as straightforward as possible, especially for first-time authors including middle- and high-school peer tutors, K-12 teachers, and university students. Know that our editorial board is committed to working with you through the process, and you can expect multiple rounds of revision! Check out this page to find videos walking you through the submission, revision, and publication process. During summer 2024, the JPTSS board is also hosting six “writing together” sessions on Zoom to support writers.
